You Know You’re a Mom

8 Jun

I found this over at Belle’s Butterfly Dreams and had to write my own! Mine is “you know you’re a mom of a baby when:”

-You smell something stinky and you check your kids diaper to see if its theirs.

-You always have some kind of some song in your head. Lately it’s been “Head, shoulder, knees and toes.”

-You plan you day around feedings, nap time and diaper changes.

-You get emotional over heartbreaking stories of other moms babies/birth stories.

-You realize you haven’t showered at 2 pm.

-You refer to yourself as “mommy” by accident to other adults.

-Your dinner is cold because as soon as you sit down to eat, your child needs something.

-You try your hardest not to wake them when walking by their room because you know if they hear you they will.

-Instead of buying yourself a new dress, you buy one for your daughter.

-You hear phantom cries when you baby is peaceful in the other room.

-You can’t tell the difference between dog slobber and baby drool.

-You have caught spit-up in your hand.

-You leave for a date with your husband carrying a diaper bag instead of your purse.

-You have shared a fifteen-minute conversation about your baby with a complete stranger at the grocery store.

-You are just as surprised when you sleep through the night as when your child does.

-You have your pediatrician’s telephone number on speed-dial.

-You cry at Johnson & Johnson commercials.

-You see your parents in a whole new light.

So very true! I always have some nursery rhyme in my head, tiptoe as I go by her room, buy things for her instead of for me, have caught spit-up in my hand multiple times! And I wouldn’t trade it for anything!
