Curious Little Mind

30 Aug

I noticed a slight change in the weather today. It wasn’t fall-over-pass-out-from-heat-exhaustion hot. There was a slight breeze and the humidity seemed to be slightly lower (remember this is still Florida. There is almost always some sort of humidity). Rylie has not been out side very much this summer. It is just too hot to subject her to it. We go on very short walks, mainly from our house to the mailbox, down the street or we are in the pool to cool off. With today’s weather being bearable and her getting better at walking, I decided to take her for a stroll around the neighborhood.

I put on her new sneakers and we stepped outside. We didn’t make it two feet and she saw something she had to pick up. She bent down and grabbed a piece of mulch. At first she tried to shove it in her mouth, but I quickly stopped that. So we continued to walk. Then she spotted the grass. She bent down and stroked her hands across the top and then pulled a piece out, again trying to put it in her mouth. From then on every two steps we took she had to grab a new piece of mulch (apparently the previous piece wasn’t good enough). At one point she had a rock, two pieces of mulch and a sliver of grass in one hand while I held her other. I kept laughing to myself and out loud because she was so intrigued by these new things. It’s funny how such a normal thing that I never take notice to is such an interesting and exciting thing to her. I’m not the type to get uptight about her getting a little dirty or holding onto a piece of mulch. She needs to learn about her surroundings. I did draw the line when she wanted to eat everything (for her own good :)) It’s just so much fun to watch her face as she explores the world around her.

Needless to say, it took us about 30 minutes to walk one block, so we didn’t get to “stroll” the neighborhood like I intended. πŸ™‚

Ahhh. So cute! Isn’t it so much fun to view things through the eyes of a child. My kids LOVE to play in our garage and on the driveway early in the morning before the sun starts banging. Chloe is infatuated with the lava rocks that line our sidewalk…seriously, she puts them in a bucket and dumps them out over and over again. Simple joys. Simple joys.

It’s so amazing how absolutely everything is new and interesting to babies. It’s a good reminder to us to slow down and notice our surroundings. Easier said than done, of course. πŸ™‚

I noticed a change in the weather yesterday as well!!! It felt incredible! We drove with the windows down and played at the park. We haven’t been outside to play in probably a month. I know the cool air won’t stay for long but boy are we enjoying it! Oh and p.s. LOVE the bows! Thanks, babe!
