Dress Make Over

6 Jan

Do you have some plain dresses hanging in you closet that need a little sprucing up? Has one of them shrunk up and now you can’t wear it without showing your unmentionables? Do you have a dress that is a little see-through, but you don’t want to wear a slip? Instead of ditching that dress you can add a few pieces to create a whole new look. Here are a couple of ways you can do that.

The first dress shrunk a little in the wash plus it was a little see through. I’m not a big fan of slips so I decided to do something cuter so I could continue to wear it.

I found a couple of dresses at Target that would be perfect as 1st layer (underneath) dresses. They are light weight and “flowy” and I probably wouldn’t wear them on their own. The best part is that they were less than $6 each (from Target of course)! The cream dress is a size too big, but once everything was pulled together you can’t even notice.

Underneath Dress

Outer Dress On Top

I added a belt to define my waist a little more.

The next dress had the same problem as the previous one. They aren’t super short, but I don’t feel very comfortable wearing them to church and especially handling a toddler. I added the same kind of dress to make them more appropriate.

Before

These dresses definitely need a belt because they are too boxy. The added belts make them even shorter, so it’s a great time to add the extra layer.

After

This last dress is just an alternate to the “two dress” idea. Instead of wearing two full dressed, you can add a skirt to your plain sweater dress.

Separate Pieces

And there you have it. Some tips to help make over your dresses. Happy Fashion.
