Easy Healthy Recipe For Your Sweet Tooth

Yesterday I mentioned an easy recipe for those of you who want to eat healthy, but also satisfy that sweet tooth. Here are a few simple steps to making a delicious dessert with very few calories and guilt.

Baked Cinnamon Apples

What you need:

  • One large apple of your choice.
  • a baking pan
  • cinnamon
  • Splenda or a more natural choice would be Stevia

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. (I actually broiled them on high because I am impatient and wanted them to be done faster). Cut your apple into thin slices. Place the slices on your baking sheet about a 1/2″ apart.

Sprinkle the Splenda or Stevia evenly across all the apple slices. Then sprinkle the cinnamon. You could also combine them in a little bowl and make a cinnamon “sugar” mixture to sprinkle on them.

Place on the middle rack and let bake for about 10-15 minutes or until apples are soft.

Remove from the oven and enjoy. These also make a great snack for toddlers.

*Tip: Try grilling these for an added level of flavor. Place on top of low fat vanilla frozen yogurt for a healthy alternative to apple pie and ice cream.

    I love baked apples and other simple fruit recipes. And I love how easy it is to do such things at this time of year. (I know apples are available year round, but berries and melons… bring on summer.)
